African bush elephants undertake some of the longest land migrations on Earth, traveling hundreds of miles along ancient corridors passed down through generations of matriarchs. These journeys follow predictable routes between wet and dry season ranges, often crossing international borders as herds move between feeding grounds and water sources.

On the obverse of each 2026 Somalia Gold Elephant Coin, Somalia’s official coat of arms is prominently displayed. A shield with horizontal lines and one central star forms the centerpiece, supported by leopards on each side. Crossing palm branches and spears beneath the shield completes the visual.

For the reverse of the 2026 1/10 oz Gold Elephant Coins, the new design focuses on a savanna watering hole. A zebra drinks at the water’s edge while two African bush elephants make their way toward the same source, with a mountain range stretching across the horizon behind them.
