Lady Liberty appears on the obverse of the 2026 American Gold Eagles. This design was created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907 and was originally used on the $20 Double Eagle, where it represented a significant artistic advancement in American coinage. The image presents a front-facing depiction of Liberty moving forward, holding an olive branch in one hand and a torch in the other.

A modernized American bald eagle design is shown on the reverse of the 2026 1 oz Gold Eagle Coins. Introduced in 2020 and first issued on the coins in 2021, this design was developed by Jennie Norris. It features a naturalistic close-up of the eagle’s head in left-profile relief, with finely rendered details that highlight the precision of the artwork.
