For the obverse 2025 5 oz Silver Libertad Coins, the design highlights the official coat of arms of Mexico. This image features a golden eagle clutching a serpent in its beak and talon while standing on a prickly pear cactus. Silver coins of 1 oz or more also incorporate ten historical renditions of the Mexican seal arranged in a ring around the main emblem.

On the reverse of each 2025 Mexican Silver Libertad is the depiction of Winged Victory. First featured in this modern format on Silver Libertads in 1996, the artwork captures a partial profile of Victory as she stands atop the Independence Victory Column, a landmark in Mexico City.

The design inspiration for Mexico’s Winged Victory draws heavily from classical Greco-Roman mythology, particularly Nike, the Greek goddess of victory, and the Roman Victoria. However, Mexican artists and designers adapted these ancient symbols to reflect distinctly Mexican values and historical experiences. The figure’s pose, with arms outstretched and wings spread wide, evokes both protection and triumph, suggesting a nation that has overcome adversity through struggle.
