Each 2024 2 oz Mexican Silver Libertad Coin offered here comes with a protective plastic flip. The 2 oz silver coin in this series debuted in 1996 alongside a 5 oz coin. The debut issue remains the highest minted for the 2 oz Silver Libertad, though it recently set its third-highest mintage in 2023 with 30,000 coins.

Mexican Libertad coins all feature Winged Victory from the Mexican Independence Victory Column on the reverse. The Mexican Independence Victory Column, or “El Ángel de la Independencia,” is an iconic landmark in Mexico City’s historic center. Erected in 1910 to commemorate the centennial of Mexico’s independence from Spain, the monument stands tall at over 150 feet (45 meters) and is one of the city’s most recognizable symbols.

For the obverse of the 2024 Mexican Silver Libertad Coin, you will find the Mexican coat of arms. The modern seal for the nation is set at the center and depicts a mighty golden eagle battling a serpent on the branch of a prickly pear cactus. Around this design, you’ll find 10 historic versions of the seal used throughout Mexican history.

In the reverse design of 2024 2 oz Mexican Silver Libertads, the mint features its image of Winged Victory. Her figure is shown in three-quarter relief with her right hand holding a laurel wreath aloft as her left clutches a set of broken chains. In the background, you’ll notice the peaks of Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl.
