American Gold Eagle Coins got a new reverse design element in mid-2021. The July debut of the new reverse altered the visual appearance of the American Gold Eagle for the first time in its history. Since 1986, the series had featured the same image of a family of bald eagles on the reverse. This design has been retired by the mint and the coins now feature the new design from Jennie Norris.

On the reverse side of 2022 1/10 oz Gold Eagle Coins is the new bald eagle design released in 2021. Created in 2020 by Jennie Norris, the image shows the head of a bald eagle in left-profile relief with incredible detail in the physical characteristics of the bird.
