The 2011 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle Coin is the perfect release to add to this collection. Like other releases in this series, the 2011 coin has been struck with 91.67% fine gold and is worth five dollars. Compared to the two previous years when coins were released in this series, the 2011 coin could be ordered in unrestricted quantities, since strict gold purchasing guidelines from 2008 were finally revoked. The 2011 coin also holds a higher mintage of 350,000 coins.

The American Gold Eagle coin series first made an appearance in 1986 and has released gold coins in every year since. The United States mint has been known for manufacturing and distributing these wonderful gold bullion products, producing four different weight values each year of release. On the obverse of the 2011 1/10 oz AmericanGold EagleCoin is the image of Lady Liberty as she strides forward toward the viewer. This design was originally created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and has been featured on the obverse of every coin released in this series. In the image, Lady Liberty is seen holding a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other, with sun rays extending back behind her. The year of the coin is also printed to the right.

The reverse design of the 2011 1/10 oz American Gold Eagle Coin was originally created by Miley Busiek. This image shows an eagle family, with the adult male eagle soaring toward the nest, holding a branch in its talons, while the mother and baby eagle wait patiently. The reverse of this coin also shows its weight, purity, and value. There are three different inscriptions: “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”, “IN GOD WE TRUST”, and “E PLURIBUS UNUM”.
