The obverse of the SilverTowne Aztec Calendar Silver Bar features a detailed image of the Sun Stone. This design is rich with cosmological and religious symbolism associated with Aztec beliefs. At its center is the face of Tonatiuh, the sun god, surrounded by four rectangular panels that represent the four earlier world eras, each believed to have ended in destruction. Moving outward, the design includes rings that display the 20 day-signs of the ritual calendar, along with solar rays, symbols of jade and turquoise representing worth, and two Xiuhcoatl fire serpents that frame the outer edge of the design. The reverse side captures a slice of the Aztec Calendar Stone design.
