The Romans adopted and adapted the Greek concept through Justitia, who became the personification of the moral force underlying the legal system. During the Renaissance, this allegorical figure was revived and refined in European art and architecture, eventually becoming the standard representation of justice in courthouses and legal institutions worldwide.

The obverse of the PAMP Suisse Gold Lady of Justice Bar features a depiction of the allegorical figure with Art Deco design elements in the background. The Lady of Justice traditionally carries three primary symbols that convey the principles of fair judgment. The scales represent the weighing of evidence and the balance required in legal decisions. The sword symbolizes the power and authority of justice, suggesting that verdicts carry consequences and enforcement. The blindfold, added in the 16th century, represents impartiality and the ideal that justice should be rendered without regard to wealth, power, or other external factors.

On the reverse of the 1 oz Gold Lady of Justice Bar, you’ll find the PAMP Suisse logo and the identifying hallmarks of the bar. All design elements on this side are arranged vertically in portrait orientation, with Art Deco design themes in the background. This side of the bar also includes an individual serial number.
